Ep 69: The #1 Thing You Need To Do Before Booking Another Client

Ep 69: The #1 Thing You Need To Do Before Booking Another Client

In today’s episode, I am getting right into the number one thing you need to BEFORE you book another client! I’m sure you’re over there thinking that it definitely has to do with something legal-related… and you’d be right my friend! It's all about ensuring that backend of your business that's… I know I know… not so fun to work on… Is squared away!

Things we talk about:

  • Contracts and how they are going to help your business inside and outside the court room.

  • How important it is to build sustainable and profitable pricing.

  • How important it is to build sustainable and profitable pricing.

  • Setting up your workflows for before booking a client and after.

  • Setting expectations for your project or service and looking at deadlines.

Here are a few quotes:

"It’s my number one thing I need you to do… make sure that the behind the scenes are taken care of.  And here’s what I mean by that: (1) Make sure your contract is in place, (2) that your pricing is not only profitable but also sustainable and reasonable, (3) that you outline your workflow, and (4) that you're setting expectations for this project."

"Contracts are also going to help you know when to expect from your clients, and them to expect from you, because you are setting those in YOUR contract that’s specific to your business and the services you provide to your clients.  So make sure you if you have an existing contract that you are familiar with what is inside… that you have reviewed it here in the next couple of weeks (or right now because there’s no better time than the present). I really honestly suggest you review your contract around every 4-6 months to ensure that you aren’t missing anything (like a bad client situation occurred and you need to clean that up) or that you need to clarify something that is already in your contract."

"If you didn’t catch my drift in this episode, working on the backend of your business its crucial before you book any client because it SETS EXPECTATIONS! And, from a pure legal perspective here, when expectations go wrong, that’s when a lawsuit can come business its crucial before you book any client because it SETS up. And then, from a pure business perspective, when expectations are not there or your clients are let down, that’s when a disgruntled client occurs. Which is why if you do these 4 things I talked about today before booking your next client will save your patootie in the long run! Both legally and business wise!"
